The prime reason for adding a melt pump to an extrusion system is to improve the throughput stability. However, other major advantages in using a melt pump at the output of the extruder:
1. The output can almost be increased-typically by 15% to 25%
2. When a melt pump is used, the extruder only has to generate enough pressure to fill the teeth of the melt pump. The melt pump will generate the pressure required to push the plastic through the die.
3. The melt temperature of plastic is almost always significantly lowered
4. Much higher die pressure can be achieved, where they are required.
Melt pump is made from high performance alloy with high precision processing to ensure a long and durable service life.
